The Place
Bali is loud where it wants to be and ancient where it counts. We build trips that split time between an Ubud rice-valley retreat, a quiet cliffside in Uluwatu, and one night at a working temple festival, booked months ahead with a Brahmin family we've known for years.

Why we go
Three reasons Indonesia stays on our atlas.
When to go
Signature experiences
The reasons you came for, and a few you didn't.
A possible shape
One way to spend your time in Indonesia.
Not a fixed trip, a sketch to argue with. Every Gallivant journey is rebuilt around your dates, pace, and people.
Day 1–2
Arrive · Seminyak
Land, decompress at a beachfront villa, walk Petitenget for the first sunset.
Day 3–5
Ubud
A rice-valley retreat, morning yoga, the Sacred Monkey Forest, a long lunch at Locavore.
Day 6
Sidemen
Move east to the rice valleys. Walk, swim in a river pool, dinner at the homestay.
Day 7–8
Amed coast
Black-sand snorkelling, the USS Liberty wreck at Tulamben, sunrise from Mount Agung.
Day 9–10
Uluwatu
Cliffside finish: sunset at the temple, beach club afternoons, surf if you want it.
Where you'll sleep
Three archetypes, one shortlist.
On the plate
Food, drinks, and the rituals around them.
Which season
The year, in four moods.
Field notes
Small things that change the trip.
Practical Indonesia knowledge from people who keep going back.
- 01
Bali days are long: start at sunrise, nap at noon, restart at four.
- 02
Carry small rupiah for temple offerings; large notes are clumsy.
- 03
Sarong and sash are required at temples; we provide both.
- 04
Nyepi (Day of Silence, March) is the most extraordinary day on the island, and the airport closes.
- 05
The Gilis are quieter than Nusa Lembongan. We send most clients to Gili Meno.
